Join the team as the Head Gardener

Join our Cranborne Estate in Dorset as the working Head Gardener, overseeing approximately 20 acres of formal and informal grounds. This integral role requires a seasoned gardener with a proven track record in garden management, adept at leading a small team and ensuring the smooth operation of the Garden’s day-to-day activities, including budgetary and performance analysis, while also ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations.

The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with both the gardening team and external contractors, as well as collaborate seamlessly with other departmental managers. Beyond practical garden maintenance, this role entails an appreciation for landscape design, with opportunities to contribute to the re-design and upkeep of various garden areas.

A commercial mindset is crucial, along with proficiency in MS Office and excellent communication skills to effectively coordinate with colleagues and stakeholders. While competence certificates in spraying and machinery use are preferred, applicants with relevant training and qualifications in horticulture or substantial experience in gardening roles will also be considered.
